Hosted by the Office of Alumni & Community Relations, these events reflect the University’s ongoing commitment to provide a unique opportunity for alumni, parents and friends to be a part of the University’s future.

Join us the weekend of Friday, June 12th & Saturday, June 13th. President Ralph Kuncl will update you and take your feedback on major initiatives that are part of the University’s emerging vision on Friday. On Saturday come see the new Broadway musical Dr. Zhivago!

Distinguished Fellows

James Fallows, a Redlands native son turned presidential speechwriter and national correspondent, and his wife Deborah, writer and linguist, have been appointed Distinguished Fellows in residence at the University of Redlands, where they will lecture and serve as resources for students and faculty across the University.More

Kay Kallander '86,'93
American Baptist Homes of the West (ABHOW’s) senior vice president of strategic planning, received the LeadingAge Award of Honor at the 2014 LeadingAge Annual Meeting.This is the highest recognition from LeadingAge, a national association representing 6,000 nonprofit aging-services organizations throughout the United States.
Chester '55 & Marilyn '52 Harter
It wasn’t love at first sight, but there was chemistry that led to a first date for pre-med majors Chester (Chet) and Marilyn (Mac) Mackenzie Harter. That first date led not only to a humor-filled, 62-year marriage, but an even longer commitment that wasn’t part of their vows—annual attendance at the University’s Feast of Lights.

Three goals for one weekend: (1.) A 60th reunion celebration; (2.) 60 classmates in attendance; and (3) 60 percent participation in the class gift. Did the class of 1954 accomplish their goals? And what can we learn from them?
Nick Brown '06
A high school quarterback from California’s Central Valley who came to the University of Redlands to play football, Brown is also a lifelong fan of the San Francisco ’49ers—and a talented artist.
Chris Kallimani '14
One of the highlights during commencement weekend was the story of 89-year-old Chris Kallimani. Kallimani graduated with a bachelor’s degree in business administration 65 years after enrolling at the University of Redlands. A member of Kappa Sigma Sigma and the University of Redlands football team, Kallimani received a standing ovation as he walked across the university's Greek Theatre’s stage.
Collin Tong '67
Having turned hardships into hopes, University of Redlands alumnus Collin Tong's collection of stories, Into the Storm, is a roadmap to one of life's most difficult challenges. The book is now available in paperback and ebook editions.A majority of the proceeds go to the Linda Tong Endowed Memorial Scholarship at the University of Redlands.
Andrea Leib '01
Andrea Leib '01 credits Redlands with giving her the confidence to start her own customized learning solutions school- On Track. Though it started as an efficient way to homeschool her own children, due to her efforts, On Track has graduated over seventy students.
Andrew Smaltz '00 & Lindsay Gunderlock Smaltz '00
Andrew Smaltz '00 and Lindsay Gunderlock Smaltz '00 met during their undergraduate years at the University of Redlands in the late 1990s and fell in love at Redlands. In fact, after sending Lindsay on a treasure hunt around campus, Andrew proposed to her in front of the Administration Building.
Sarah Emoto '11
After completing her journey at the University of Redlands, alum Sarah Emoto began a new chapter of her life. The new adventure sent her running three thousand miles across the United States of America, with limited rest and relaxation, in honor of those who served.
